Repairer of Broken Walls

God promises that if we obey His commands and do what He wants us to do, He will “cause us to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of our father Jacob.” In Isaiah God talks about His people fasting but doing it with how it benefits them. Not fully obeying God but doing it to please themselves instead of doing it God’s way.

Isaiah 58:4 “….You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.”

Imagine the God of the universe telling and promising you that if you just sit still, listen closely to what He is saying, do what He has told you to do and then watch the result of goodness and blessings overflow. Isaiah 58:11,12 “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in the sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose water never fail. Your people will build the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”

Where do you stand today? Are you listening to what God wants you to do or are you doing it your way instead? God promises if you do it His way there will be great things coming.

Whenever you read a scripture that mentions Jacob as the father of His people, just remember that those promises and blessings are for you, too! YOU are a descendent of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! Obey God. Listen closely to what the Holy Spirit is speaking and then obey. He promises you will be taken care of and protected by God Himself.

Isaiah 58:11 “…You will be like a well watered garden….you will be called Repairer of Broken Wall’s, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”

Heartache… you will be healed.

I just had to jump on my blog to write this message, that whoever you are, Jesus hears you and He wants you to know that He loves you more than you will ever know. There are bright days ahead for you. Just hang in there a little longer. He is holding your heart and will not let anything happen to it. He has won the battle for you and nothing will come in between. Trust in Him.

Self-care in the Midst of Chaos. /Book Reads, Weight Loss Journey.

James 1:19-21 “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.”

I pull myself out of the anger, fear and darkness happening all around me, and I sit humbly in my room finding what I can do to make myself a better person in Christ. Yes, I’m praying for our nation and the world but to make changes it must first start with changing myself. To sit still and let God give me a way to self discipline and change until I’m ready for what He is asking me to do.

After all, each of us has been given a gift, talent and a ministry to be used by God as his vessel. But first we have to be willing to let Him change us so He can begin our ministries that He has set before us. Now, some of those ministries are bigger than others but that doesn’t mean it will not have a big impact. God is God. He can do anything He wants to in a humble persons life and with a power only he can give.

In the midst of my surroundings I quiet myself and listen to what God is saying to me. There are some changes I’ve been going through. Let’s just say I have been put through the fire and humbled while being molded as God works on me. It has been painful but I know He wants me to change from my sinful ways and learn from them so I can become more like Him.

First, God led me to someone who I have heard about but never really paid attention to. She’s a woman who I now look up to while I’m reading about her life story. We have a lot in common. Her passions for loving God, animals, and entertaining people to name a few. The not so pretty part of being married to men who abuse and manipulate are all too real as well.

As I’m digging into reading her book, not only do I feel nostalgic(the book was written in the 70’s.) but I see how time doesn’t change the difficulties humans go through. This amazing woman died last year and i wish I could have met her or at least wrote to her on how God has used her to help me. I wonder why she died and then I found out about her incredible life?

God slowly showed me how someone who went through similar things, as myself, could recover and then begin to uplift others and come out completely healed and to then start using gifts of serving to help and motivate others.

Who is this woman you ask? It’s Doris Day. As I’m reading her biography, I stop in between chapters to run and search for the movie she talks about in that particular chapter(which makes it longer to get through the book, but worth every minute of it!) just to lay down, get cozy and watch the movie. Do you know how refreshing it is to watch a good clean wholesome classic movie? In a world where “Game of Thrones” and series and movies similar are overflowing our selections to choose from. It’s no wonder why people are going through so much turmoil in marriages and personal relationships from a world full of sinfulness in that industry. We are manipulated into thinking sin is fine and it hurts no one. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Our eyes and ears are the entrance to the heart. Your heart becomes ruined when you allow lustful, sinful things for entertainment. I could go off on a longer tangent but back to what I was saying. I really do try my best to search for good entertainment. I have trained myself to love the hallmark channel and other clean movies and series that give you a good feeling afterward. It wasn’t easy. I got used to watching junk. But now I’m addicted to wholesome movies. So I have really begun to absolutely enjoy and look forward to Doris Day films. I’m on chapter 9 in her autobiography but I just thought I would share this on my blog if anyone would like to do the same. I’ll tell you what I have learned so far. That she was not perfect by any means but in the midst of chaos she held herself well. So well that people thought she had the perfect life. In the middle of her hardships she didn’t lose sight of who she wanted to be. A pure, modest and wholesome woman. Someone who stayed feminine and beautiful throughout her life and didn’t fall into the rat race of trying to be rough, tough, cruel and hard hearted because of the abuse she received. Instead, she was wise and used that wisdom to help others. Towards the end of her career she started an organization for rescuing animals. She lived to be 97.

My kitten got a hold of this book. You can see the teeth marks. Lol

Second, she at some point in her life, turned vegetarian. I am not a vegetarian although I will not say it’s impossible and one day I just might be! I eat vegetarian meals as well as vegan and high carb(good carbs) but I also still eat meat. Which leads me to my other new self-care (discipline). I am now currently on a weight loss journey. I’ve changed my diet to a more restricted calorie diet. I’m sharing it here in case someone out there is going through the same thing and we can make this a place to encourage one another. I will keep up on my progress and get more into detail on my next blog. As of right now I have lost a total of 22 lbs. I plateaued during Covid 19 but have now jumped back on it again. When I eat healthy it doesn’t necessarily mean I am losing weight(it means I’m maintaining weight). So like I said, I have gone on a more restrictive diet. I feel strong, healthy and with loads of energy. It’s a diet(so far) perfect for me. I used to do this diet years ago and it worked great! And today it is working just as well. I wish I had not been so stubborn and had gotten down to my ideal weight earlier with this diet but I happened to forget about it and went on other diets instead. So I now learned that through trial and error eventually great results will be reached. So here I am on a journey with my favorite diet and I’m excited to share it here with whoever wants to follow along with me. Feel free to share your weight loss journey and what has worked for you. I will be sharing my exact diet and routine in upcoming blogs.

*After I finish reading this book, I already have another one lined up. It’s called “Girls with Swords” by Lisa Bevere. I will let you know when I start reading it and my thoughts about it.

We. Are. Together.

I have been in deep prayer and believe the Lord is looking for people to take a stand by leading those who have backslidden and are now being called to repentance, to help and minister as they get back on the right path. We can help those who are ready for this harvest by sharing God’s word on your social media. Be gentle and kind with God’s guidance through the Holy Spirit. This is a precious time. The Lord may ease our time quickly through this suffering and end it faster when the more people come to him and repent. Lets gather together and reach those in need during this time of prayer and repentance.

Something wonderful is happening behind the scenes. It’s exciting to think about the believers in the world, that when they wash their hands(for 20 seconds) are quoting scripture, singing psalms and reciting the Lord’s prayer. We wash are hands frequently each day. Truly God is listening with how he gets to hear our faith as we recognize Him during the day, even through something as simple as washing our hands. Who would have thought this would be happening? Back in February no one thought of doing this before it all happened.

We as Christians are more united than ever before. What the enemy meant for evil, God turns into good. We may not be able to congregate in our churches but it doesn’t matter because each one of us IS the church. We are spiritually congregating all over the world with praying together, singing together, fasting together, even if it’s kneeling on our bedside. WE. ARE. TOGETHER.

Take this time to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who have fallen and need our help to bring them back. Together, there is power in prayer. Amen.

Coronavirus/Beauty for Ashes

God gives us beauty for ashes. The ashes are the loss of our normal everyday lives. The uncertainty of what might come out of all of this. Being scared of the unknown. Worried that we will catch the coronavirus or one of our loved ones or even our friends.

But God tells us there is beauty in the midst of this pandemic. People are waking up from their sleeping. Perhaps some of us have taken advantage of what we have and lost sight of what is the most important. Love. Faith. The simple things in life. Families are eating dinner together. People are enjoying Gods creation. We rest and trust because for once we are not in control like we always want to be.

Take a deep breath. Relax. It will be over soon and you will be back to your everyday life. But promise yourself this one thing. That you will take something from this that you will never forget. That God will always provide His children with their resources because he IS the source.

God doesn’t care about jobs or money. (Although he blesses us) ultimately what matters is your soul. This world is dying. Even the the stars in the sky live just to die. Our real home is not here but to be in Heaven with God the Father.

Repent if your life has been filled with more sin than it should be. Run from your sins. Cling to the word of God. Follow Jesus so He can show the path that you are suppose to be on.

If you have never received Christ in your heart then please do it. Now is the time. Pray “Jesus, forgive me a sinner. Wash my sins away and help me to follow you. I recognize that you are God the father and I want to surrender my life to you. Show me the way my Lord. I love you and thank you for dying for my sins. Come into my heart and lead me to your beautiful peace and beautiful way of life. For taking away the heavy burdens and giving me this beautiful rest. In Jesus name. Amen”

Michael W Smith

It is in the middle of the night and I woke up from a deep sleep to this huge concert celebrating 35 years of Michael W. Smith on TV with the network TBN. Over 50 artists were there and let me tell you, my jaw dropped and I immediately became wide awake! You see, when I was a teenager I experienced the beginnings of the contemporary Christian music explosion and being a brand new Christian myself, I basically grew up with all these amazing talented Christian musicians and artists. There was a time I lost my way back in the mid 2000’s and it took me a long time before I came back to Christian music again. Watching this show is making me feel this incredible feeling of my first love with Christ. That love that is so deep and this powerful feeling of when Jesus proves his existence in your life and you just want everyone to know about him. That was me back when all these great artists played their music all over Christian radio. I lived, breathed and was obsessed with Christian music. There still were so many talented artists that I would have loved to have seen on there but there were many whom I still cherished anyway. I have to admit the tears were welling up. I haven’t seen some of them in YEARS and I didn’t recognize a lot of them lol but Michael W Smith hasn’t changed. What an amazing artist he is. One of the best song writers of his time. I am honored to grow up with these people who changed my life and made me see God through their eyes and songs and then ultimately leading me to giving my heart to Jesus at the age of 17.

BLT with Hot Chocolate (Cacao)

Today is a nostalgic delicious “cheat” day! I remember going to my Grandma’s house and just before breakfast I would run down to the barn, get some fresh milk from the big tank with the little circle lid on top, open it up , grab some fresh milk and take it up to the farm house to make hot cocoa. That was a fun time. Later that same day I would make myself a BLT with potato chips and Pepsi. That was one of my favorite lunch that I would eat at Grandma’s. Dinner time she would make her homemade beef stew and I have never had any beef stew like it since. I sure do miss those days and I miss Grandma, too.

Today, of course, when I want to have those goodies, I am more careful with what I use for ingredients. I make hot cocoa made with cacao. The BLT is chicken bacon with green leafy vegetables and whole wheat bread instead of white and also some baked ruffle lays. So here’s to remembering the farm house and the farm that my grandfather worked so hard on and the fun I had with many great memories.

What I Eat in a Day..Blog

You can’t really appreciate these pictures with the terrible lighting and the fact that I need to invest in a good camera. But for now it will have to do.

These fluffy whole wheat pancakes are amazing. I’ll never make them any other way. Delicious!
Here’s another breakfast favorite. Poached eggs on top of greens with my homemade whole wheat raspberry muffins. They just so happen to be fat free. Moist, delicious and I stay full forever!
Lunchtime …I like to think of nourish bowls as God’s creation of goodness and blessings. In this bowl is low-fat chicken dumplings, turnip and beets sautéd in olive oil, brown rice and avocado.
Here we have Chicken nuggets cooked in the air fryer, turnip mash and asparagus. You can use any type of sauce for the nuggets. This night I used beet ketchup
Another dinner filled with lots of nutrition. This is a favorite dinner of mine. Chicken and sweet brown sauce with a kick. Red noodles with a delicious white fat free creamy sauce sprinkled with Parmesan, and asparagus.

And some extras I thought I’d throw in…
On a cheat day I like to pig out on home fries cooked in the air fryer, over easy eggs and my favorite coffee.
These chocolate fat free gooey brownie cookies are my absolute favorite for dessert or snack. 🥰

What if Potiphar’s Wife Had an Instagram?

I was studying this last weekend with a book I bought called “Women of the Bible”. It’s an older bible study, but like the bible, it never really gets old. There is a certain section on Potiphar’s wife. We don’t know her name or much about her past but what we do know is that she was the spoiled wife of a prosperous and influential Egyptian. The bible talks about her as being vindictive and a liar. She used her behavior to seduce Joseph. The bible is mainly talking about Joseph’s story but I can’t help but wonder whatever happened to Potiphar’s wife? Did she stay living a life full of deception and unfaithfulness? Did she ever meet up with Joseph again after he became the second most powerful man in the world? Did she ever follow Joseph’s God and turn away from her wickedness? Then I started to think about some character traits of women today and saw their similarities. What if in today’s world the character of Potiphar’s wife had an Instagram? What would it look like? What would she be wearing? What poses would she be doing? You can tell a person’s heart by their behavior. Is life all about being selfish or is life putting others above yourself? A lot of content on women and their Instagram’s today is showing a lot of skin while being provocative and posing in a seductive stance. I really don’t think they see the similarities in their behavior comparing it to Potiphar’s wife. But whether done innocently or rooted in their hearts, it doesn’t matter because it’s not the way God would want his children to behave. It’s a form of flirting and causing others to look at themselves behaving in a sensual way. It may seem “cute” or innocent but in reality it only leads to wickedness.

When a man looks at your Instagram is he going to see a woman who is strong, beautiful and confident in herself? Or is his first impression of you leading him to think of impure thoughts and lust?

I believe there is a way to be feminine and beautiful on Instagram without revealing too much of yourself. You don’t have to behave in a way that brings men into your life giving you the attention you seek by acting like someone you are not. The wrong type of men will give you attention while behaving this way, but is that really what you want? No. Not at all.

There is a woman in the bible around the time of Jesus. She was a sinful woman who felt ashamed of her behavior. She entered a room where Jesus was sitting and began crying profusely. She wiped the tears that fell to his feet with her hair and also anointed them with perfume to show her love and also recognizing who he really was. He tells her in Luke 7:48,50 Jesus said, “…your sins are forgiven.” “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

When we live in God’s forgiveness we no longer have to hold the burden of guilt. Our faith and love for Jesus has made us well and forgiven. We can live the rest of our lives knowing that he tells us everyday “..go in peace.” When our bodies are filled with the Holy Spirit we don’t have the desires that our past lives had. That’s why we always need to stay vigilant and in constant prayer and studying God’s word so we don’t leave room for the enemy, who wants to attack and pull us back into our old sins.

And for the men. Please don’t give in or fall for these women. Proverbs 5:1-6 “My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight, that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge. For the lips of the adulterous women drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as a gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.”

Don’t be mean to her. Just pray and walk away.

The Holy Spirit Is Our Spiritual GPS

It’s important to be receptive to the Holy Spirit. He guides and directs our path and also protects us from harm so we don’t following the wrong people who could be a bad influence. It’s as if he gives us these glasses to help see through the people who come into our lives. If there is darkness the Holy Spirit will reveal it. We will start to see the bad fruit in that person if they are not good for us or if they could potentially lead us down the wrong path.

How do you stay connected to the Holy Spirit?

1. Pray before your feet touch the floor in the mornings. Pray before your hand reaches that phone.

2. In everything you do ask the Holy Spirit what he thinks. He is our comforter sent to us to work in partnership with us.

3. Fast and pray for the Holy Spirits wisdom

4. Follow Gods direction. Be baptized. Join a fellowship (church) with other believers. Preferably ones who would be a good role model by getting knowledge from them on how to draw closer to Christ.

You could ignore the GPS when you are trying to get somewhere but how much easier would it be if you just let it guide and lead you to where you need to go?

The Holy Spirit is there waiting for our approval to take over and guide our thoughts our actions and our decisions.

Wisdom is the key to getting through this life with a positive purpose. The Holy Spirit wants to give it to us. But first we must be willing to let him.
